Proper hair care - is there a universal recipe?
Hair care is an integral part of most women's daily routine. All hair needs careful care and often - an individual approach. The most important thing is to know exactly what your hair needs and discover what will make it beautiful, shiny and, above all, healthy. By applying a few simple and reliable rules, hair care will become easy, pleasant and most importantly - it will bring the desired results.
Hair care step by step
Washing is the basis of every care. Before washing, brush your hair thoroughly to avoid tangles. A properly selected shampoo should be first applied to the hand, diluted with water and only then gently applied to the scalp. When washing, you should focus on the scalp. Perform a gentle massage with your fingertips. Don't rub your hair. Let the lather flowing down the length of the hair penetrate it by itself. The temperature of the water is important for proper hair care and it should be neither too hot nor too cold.
After washing your hair, wrap it in a delicate cloth. It definitely shouldn't be rubbed with a towel or wrapped to form a turban. Wet hair is extremely prone to breaking. A good solution is to use an ordinary cotton T-shirt to dry the hair. Wet hair shouldn't be brushed as this causes it to pull out and break. Importantly, these tips will also apply if you have hair extensions.
Brushing your hair is an extremely important element of hair care. Using hairbrushes made of natural bristles has recently become fashionable. Such brushes are recommended for brushing natural hair extensions. They make the hair tangle-free and retain its shine. Brushes for hair extensions will also work well between periods of wearing extensions.
Hair care - what cosmetics to choose?
Proper hair care can be done in a simple way that requires minimum effort but also in multiple steps. The absolute minimum should be to wash your hair and then make sure it’s properly nourished. The conditioner will make hair soft and smooth and give it a healthy shine. A good solution is to use products from one series because they will complement each other.
The products for dry hair will have different ingredients than the products for oily hair. Curly hair requires something else than thin hair. Remember this when buying cosmetics. If we have hair extensions, nothing will serve them better than specially dedicated cosmetics for hair extensions.
One element of hair care is treatments performed less frequently than every wash, such as scrubbing your scalp. It is an element of care aimed at strengthening the condition of the scalp and thoroughly cleansing it of dead skin and cosmetic residues.
Hair oiling, both wet and dry, is also gaining popularity. Oiling makes hair smoother and shinier and regenerates it. Oiling is applied to the entire hair or only to the ends, depending on individual needs.
What is the CWC method?
The hair washing method known as CWC has been very popular for some time. The name comes from the first letters of the words "Condition - Wash - Condition". To put it simply, it’s a method of hair care which involves reversing the order compared to classic shampooing, where the conditioner is applied only in the second step.
The CWC method aims to protect the hair from the negative effects of harmful and drying substances contained in shampoos (SLS and SLES). The CWC method is recommended especially for high and medium porosity hair because it’s the most susceptible to dryness and damage.
What should hair care look like according to the CWC method? First, we apply conditioner which forms a protective layer on our hair. When applying the conditioner, we try not to apply it directly to the scalp. Then we move on to properly wash our hair with shampoo, focusing on the scalp. After thoroughly rinsing the hair, we move on to conditioning again. This time we rinse the conditioner thoroughly after a few minutes. Finally, you can still apply your favourite serum or moisturizing oil.
Hair care at home with the CWC method is very simple and worth trying for any hair type. For best results, the CWC method should be used over a long period and with good quality cosmetics.
How to take care of hair in autumn?
Proper hair care also includes taking the season into account. British autumn is mainly characterized by a lot of moisture in the air and often windy weather. However, autumn hair care should focus on regenerating and nourishing hair after the summer season, when it was exposed to the damaging effects of the sunlight, hot dry air, and often salt.
After summer, it's a good idea to start by trimming the damaged ends. After that, hair care goes as usual. Always use a conditioner after washing your hair. Once a week, it's a good idea to do a thorough cleansing of the scalp with a scrub and apply a hair mask. This one, unlike the face mask, should be kept on your hair for much longer - 30 minutes on average. Such comprehensive hair care will perfectly prepare your hair for the upcoming winter season.
How to take care of hair in winter?
Winter is a real test for our hair. Constant temperature changes, dry indoor air and freezing cold outside together with thick woollen hats make it challenging to keep hair in good condition. In very cold weather it is important to protect the entire hair, including the ends. How to take care of your hair in winter? In winter hair care, it is good to use products that keep the hair moist. These are cosmetics with natural oils and silicones that help moisturize the hair and make it more resistant to harmful factors. It is also worth taking vitamin D supplements. Winter contributes to the occurrence of dandruff and more frequent greasy hair, so it's worth taking proper care of the scalp by using the already mentioned scrub.
